what I think this song talks about is somebody getting a girl pregnant and how happy he is, yet he doesn't know if he's ready: "well I just heard the news today it seems my life is going to change I closed my eyes, begin to pray then tears of joy stream down my face...Well I don't know if I'm ready to be the man I have to be I'll take a breath, take her by my side we stand in awe, we've created life"
the main thing that makes me thing he got a girl pregnant is "we've created life" and there are other little hints in that section of the lyrics, and then I think he starts to talk about how he wishes his kid will turn out: "welcome to this place I'll show you everything...I'll show you love I'll show you everything...I hope he's not like me I hope he understands that he can take this life and hold it by the hand and hold he can greet the world with arms wide open"
